Tasting Notes

Distilled on the legendary Versailles wooden pot still, this rum from Diamond is spirit-led and vividly tropical. The nose bursts with guava and  underripe mango, anchored by mushy banana, vanilla pod and  warm teak . The palate is bright and oily, pulsing with lime leaf, white chocolate and canned pineapple. A lick of green peppercorn follows, before a finish of salted papaya and lingering estery heat.

Distillery Information

Diamond Distillery in Guyana sits on the banks of the famous Demerara River in an area renowned for its sugar plantations. It is the last remaining distillery in Guyana and has reclaimed stills from other former distilleries in the country. Many of these stills are now used to create heritage rums. A mix of column and pot stills is used, including traditional wooden pot stills made from local Greenheart wood. Diamond produces a range of different marks but the distillery’s character is generally considered a heavier style and renowned for its quality.
