Three Centuries of Tradition

We can trace our history back to 1698, when an enterprising woman called the Widow Bourne started an “Italian grocer’s” at No.3 St James’s Street, selling tea, snuff, spices and the most fashionable drink of the day, coffee. In due course, our focus shifted to something a little bit stronger. As wine became important to the business, so too did spirits, and we started bottling casks under our label in the early 19th century, making us Britain’s oldest independent spirits bottler.

Sustainability

At Berry Bros. & Rudd we are a family business, This means we have always worked with the next generation in mind. As such, we believe it is vital to integrate sustainability at every stage of our business decisions. Our goal is to be net zero carbon and plastic free by 2030. We are working hard to achieve this and in the interest of honest transparency, here is an overview of where we currently are. All elements of our bottle are made from a minimum of 40% recycled glass with our secondary packing being 100% recyclable. Our chosen partners adhere to strict environmental policies to ensure that we – along with our producers and partners – are on a mission to be more sustainable in all we do.
