Tasting Notes
A swirl of coastal smoke and hedgerow fruits rises from the glass, where sweet peat embers meet ripe red cherries. The Moscatel cask brings a caramelised richness, weaving red fruits through the palate alongside honeyed apricots and gentle wood smoke. The spirit is harmoniously integrated, allowing the whisky’s oily character to carry flavours of spiced plum and smouldering driftwood. A flicker of rubber emerges late, before the finish settles into a lingering haze of ash, brine, and caramelised sweetness.
Distillery Information
Perched near the shores of Port Askaig, Caol Ila Distillery gazes across the Sound of Islay toward the rugged Isle of Jura. Whilst proudly embodying many of the smoky notes typically associated with Islay whiskies, Coal Ila's spirit also has an elegant and fruity style, a result of a distillation process which retains fewer heavy phenols.
