Tasting Notes
A rich and expressive Teaninich, where the distillery’s crisp, green character intertwines with the sweet indulgence of Pineau des Charentes. The nose opens with fresh green apple skin, layered over honeyed sultanas and a dusting of brown sugar. A splash of water unveils additional complexity, revealing toasted nuts, zesty orange peel, and sun-dried raisins. As the whisky develops, luscious notes of strawberry and raspberry emerge, adding a vibrant red fruit dimension. On the palate, a burst of juicy red fruits takes centre stage, complementing the whisky’s natural brightness with a velvety depth. The finish is sweet and lingering, leaving behind the warmth of sun-ripened fruit and gentle spice.
Distillery Information
Located in the northeast Highlands, Teaninich was founded in 1817. The whisky produced here is primarily destined for use in some of Scotland’s most popular blends. Teaninich is notable for being one of the few distilleries to use a mash filter instead of a traditional mash tun, a method more commonly associated with brewing.
