Tasting Notes
This Blair Athol gracefully embraces the Margaux cask, elevating the distillery's hearty malt character to new heights. The nose is indulgently rich, unfolding layers of buttery caramel biscuits and lush, dark hedgerow berries - ripe blackcurrants taking centre stage. Adding a dash of water releases an orchard harvest of succulent apples, ripe pears, and a zesty twist of orange peel. The palate reveals a luxurious texture, silky and sweet, intertwining robust maltiness with vibrant fruity notes. The finish gently fades into comforting echoes of malt, crisp green apple, and a refined herbal flourish.
Distillery Information
Blair Athol sits just south of Pitlochry, nestled in Perthshire's picturesque Vale of Athol, often described as the "gateway to the Highlands." Known for its rich, nutty, and malty character, Blair Athol is equally admired for the leafy veil of ivy draping the distillery’s historic walls, changing dramatically in colour as the seasons unfold.
