Tasting Notes
This elegant Speyside dram gently rises from the glass with soft notes of coconut, warm malt loaf and stewed, spiced apples. A little time in the glass brings out candied pecans and peach skin. The palate is wonderfully fresh and vibrant with spice, soft fruit, citrus and honey. There is a perfect balance of subtle oak and fresh, peach driven distillate. Once again, we are reminded there is no substitute for long maturation in a delicate refill cask.
Miltonduff Distillery was built in 1824, south of Elgin in the Glen of Pluscarden. In 1964, two Lomond stills were added, producing a different style of whisky which was known as Mosstowie. These were removed in 1981.
Rob Says: “Miltonduff remains yet another of Speyside’s unsung heroes. The incredible combination of sweetly honeyed, malt-driven spirit and six large stills (resulting in sizeable production capacity) makes this distillery irresistible to the whisky world’s most famous blenders. We are therefore absolutely delighted to have been able to “rescue” a handful of special casks from their warehouse, to share this secret with discerning drinkers.”
