Jonny McMillan

“Most of my friends know I’m not a huge fan of grain whisky under ‘middle aged’, but there’s no denying these deep aged grains have a character and depth worthy of attention from even the most sincere malts-snob like myself! This ancient Girvan is deep, chewy and complex, offering thick slaps of wood driven goodness ranging from crème brulee to Bounty Bars!”

Tasting Notes

This exceptional Single Grain from Girvan’s first year of production gives rich waves of vanilla and nuts surrounded by fresh apple and oak resin. The palate is lively but layered with more vanilla, cinnamon, and orange citrus bursting through. The finish is so well paced and long leaving a wonderful impression of sophistication and maturity.

Distillery

Girvan Distillery, situated on the southwest coast of Scotland, opened in 1963 on the former site of a munitions factory. For a few years, the single malt Ladyburn - which is now very rare - was produced at the complex.

Rob says: “One of the largest whisky distilleries in Scotland, and indeed the world, Girvan is a facility unlike almost any other we work with. Broodingly situated, outside the coastal Ayrshire town of the same name, Girvan distillery produces almost unimaginably massive volumes of Single Grain Whisky to contribute slaking to the world’s thirst for classic blended Scotch.”
