Doug McIvor

“Earthy with hints of damp warehouse floors and oak tannin until the ripe autumn fruits arrive. There is a true melange of berries tempered by a backdrop of banana, vanilla and custard. The palate explodes with rich fruit laced with a little licorice and gentle spice. All carries nicely through the long lingering finish.”

Tasting Notes

Bags of red fruit pour out of the glass offering

zingy redcurrants, strawberry jam and cherries

on the nose. The palate is like distilled Summer

Cup, at once floral and spicy with more fruit

appearing across the palate – a wonderfully

rounded whisky. Red wine notes appear on the

finish, showing bruised strawberries and a hint

of liquorice. This Glen Moray is bound to be a hit

with fans of red wine-finished drams.

Distillery

Glen Moray Distillery, formerly a brewery, was converted in 1897. Situated to the west of Elgin, it spent most of its early years in silence, until it was bought by new owners in the 1920s and expanded in 1958.

Ronnie says: “I love this delightful distillery. Unlike most it finds itself surrounded by buildings and town houses which makes it look part of the town. But don’t be fooled: such thoughts bely its experimental past where arguably the art of ‘finishes’ was truly developed. Now an integral part of Elgin and its history - it sits unassumingly in the very Heart of Speyside.”
