“These casks really surprised me, they’re

super fruity and wonderfully vibrant – I think

they pair almost perfectly with the sweet

wine casks.”

Tasting Notes

A final year maturing in ex-sweet wine casks

has brought out the playful fruitiness of this

delightful Glencadam. Apricots, peaches,

orange blossom and honey yoghurt all flutter

out of the glass, making for a wonderfully

refreshing nose. The palate is gloriously thick,

bringing more bright fruits along with mango

syrup, chewy dried pineapple and a hint of

drying wood varnish. All of this is wrapped up

on the lingering palate by further notes of fruit

syrup. This is amazingly fresh and floral.

Distillery

Glencadam is an often-overlooked gem of the Highlands. Founded in 1825, it has changed hands many times, but has survived as the only remaining distillery in the area of Angus, once home to the famous North Port and Lochside distilleries. A taste of the spirit is a good indicator as to why it’s lasted.

Doug says: “For most of its life Glencadam was little known other than as a contributor to house blends including Stewart’s Cream of the Barley. This changed when the Hillman family bought the distillery in 2003, resuming production and puting the whisky firmly on the map as a top notch single malt in its own right.”
