“This cask reaffirms my belief that Ledaig is one of the greatest unheralded peated whiskies of Scotland. Rarely appearing when larger brands dominate, this offering from Tobermory shows fern, bracken and forest-floor in abundance. Unusually, I find some orange oil, presumably from the interplay between spirit and ex-sherry cask. Savoury peat flows through the palate and seemingly transmutes into liquorice root and even some singed tarragon, before magically devolving back into leaves and smoke for the softly lingering finalé.”
