“An anonymous cask from the North Highland, that gives gentle notes of honey comb, beeswax and whiffs of wood polish… I wonder what it could be? No more clues, I don’t want to let the wildcat out of the bag…”
Tasting Notes
This enigmatic Highlander gives strong hints of it’s origin with powerful aromas of floral honey, antique furniture and fruit gums, suggesting the trademark waxiness of a certain famed distillery. The palate is wonderfully viscous, with the texture integrating perfectly with notes of warm honey, tarte tatin, almonds and pleasing hints of beeswax. The finish gives a passing note of wood smoke, before some spiciness and tobacco leaves appears toward the finish. An exquisite Highland whisky deserving of a quiet evening to enjoy it’s company.
Occasionally, we come across a cask of whisky that we’re unable to disclose the origins of. Although we would usually try to avoid this, some casks are just too good to pass by - such as this hogshead from the Highlands.
